The Office of Alumni Relations would like to help every program, department, and center with event coordination and management, but unfortunately, it simply isn't possible due to tangible resource constraints and our need to achieve the School's strategic goals. But first things first – what is an alumni event?
The Office of Alumni Relations defines an alumni event as one in which the following criteria are met:
- the primary objective of the event is to serve, support, or otherwise engage School of Business alumni;
- the primary audience targeted and being invited is alumni;
- the audience attendance is anticipated to be more than 50%.
and/or
In the event that we cannot coordinate or manage your event, and it does include a portion of alumni, we can offer support and guidance via our new alumni event toolkit, as well as marketing and promotion (emails, social media, calendar listings, etc.). If the majority of participants in the event are alumni, we can add additional support by providing possible funding, creating registration pages, etc.
If you have determined that your event is an alumni event and you would like our support, please complete the Alumni Event Request Form. This form will allow us to understand your needs and also how we can lend support.
We invite you to visit our Alumni Event Toolkit filled with how-to's and tips on how to coordinate an event.
If you have recently connected with an alum of the School of Business, we want to hear all about it!
The information in our UConn Foundation's database, which holds all of our alumni data, is only as good as the information we provide it. While our office makes a conscious effort to update alumni information as we become aware of it, we would love for this to be a School-wide effort. Our ask is two-fold: update us any time you have a substantive interaction* with an alum and share any pertinent information** to update their file.
*A substantive interaction can be a visit from an alum to campus, grabbing coffee to catch-up, a Zoom meeting, - something with an ask on either end.
**Alumni pertinent information can be anything from a promotion, a move across the country, or any other milestone told to you by the alum themselves or through news/LinkedIn.
The Office of Alumni Relations reserves the right to determine what constitutes an alumni event. In the event of differing opinions, the matter will brought forward to the Dean's Office for clarification, taking into account strategic priorities, staffing and other resource constraints, as well as alumni programming already in process.
