Joseph LaBrosse ’85 is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of Grove Real Estates LLC. After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a degree in accounting he started his professional career at Arthur Andersen & Co. in the audit and tax departments where he became a Certified Public Account.
After leaving Arthur Andersen in 1988, he joined Grove Investment Group and later became a founding member, shareholder and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of numerous Grove companies and joint ventures. This included Grove Property Trust, (AMEX: GVE) a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) with a portfolio of more than 6,000 apartments and retail properties in Southern New England. In 2000, the apartment portfolio was merged into Equity Residential, a $25 billion S&P 500 company (NYSE: EQR). After, Grove continued to grow a portfolio of real estate properties that included retail, medical offices, industrial buildings, and land with Joseph leading the financial operations.
Throughout his 30-year career, Joseph has been a managing financial partner in more than 500 diversified private real estate partnerships and two public companies. He has closed deals for more than $1 billion of both public and private equity, debt, and derivative transactions. His current real estate portfolio includes partnership interests in community retail, mixed use properties, suburban office, medical office, a large master planned residential community, and land in southern New England and Charleston SC. In addition to his role as CEO of Grove Real Estate LLC he is Chief Financial Officer of Grove Property Fund LLC and Carolina Park Development LLC.
His hobbies include traveling, skiing, swimming, biking and playing saxophone in a swing big band. He was member of the UConn Jazz Band, Symphony Band, Marching and Pep Bands.
