Scott Kozak '88
Entrepreneur, Life Science Consultant
Scott Kozak ’88 earned his BS in Marketing from the University of Connecticut School of Business and an MBA in International Marketing from Kennesaw State University’s Michael J. Coles College of Business.
With over 30 years of leadership experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, and life sciences sectors, Scott has built a career at the intersection of entrepreneurship, business development, and strategic partnerships. He has co-founded three companies—including two healthcare ventures and a renewable biofuel/specialty chemicals company—and has guided numerous start-ups through fundraising, licensing, and global expansion. As an independent consultant since 2008, he has helped organizations from emerging biotech firms to established pharmaceutical companies develop strategies for growth, secure investment, and form high-impact collaborations.
Scott’s connection to UConn runs deep. Since 2017, he has served as a mentor to undergraduates and graduate students in the School of Business and at the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (CCEI), supporting NSF iCorps programs and advising early-stage innovators. As an Adjunct Professor, he has taught Biomedical Entrepreneurship and co-created Entrepreneurship Mentoring, an Independent Study course guiding students in evaluating the viability of their ideas. He has also worked directly with UConn-affiliated start-ups, helping them attract funding, build partnerships, and bring new technologies to market.
“Being a UConn mentor is one of the most rewarding parts of my career. It’s an opportunity to give back to the community that shaped me, while helping the next generation of innovators turn ideas into reality. Seeing their passion, creativity, and resilience is inspiring—and being part of their journey is truly fulfilling.”
