Christopher P. Mottern ’66 has who has served as a Director on the Company’s Board since 2013, has been appointed to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Farmer Bros. Co. Mr. Mottern brings more than 40 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, having served as CEO of Peet’s Coffee & Tea, President of The Heublein Wines Group, and CEO of Capri Sun, Inc.

Joseph R. Sowin ’02
Joseph R. Sowin ’02 has been named co-chief investment officer (CIO) of Highland Capital Management, LP. In this role, Mr. Sowin oversees investment activities for the firm’s multibillion dollar alternative investment platform with a focus on driving information flow across investment teams and with the firm’s counterparties. Mr. Sowin joined the firm in 2010, after holding various trading positions at New York and Connecticut-based hedge funds.
Elena S. Trueworthy ’99
Elena S. Trueworthy ’99 has been named Director of the Connecticut Head Start State Collaboration Office. She will be responsible for helping support implementation of the federal Head Start program, which provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and patient involvement services to low-income children and their families. The position is housed within the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC).
Semin Park ’19 Ph.D.
Semin Park ’19 Ph.D. successfully defended her dissertation titled, “The Emergence and Evolution of Conflict Relations: Conflict Dynamics in Emergency Medical Response Teams.” Dr. Park has accepted a tenure track position with the University of Iowa.
Hayley N. Reissfelder ’16
Hayley N. Reissfelder ’16 has taken the position of Social Media Manager for Teak Media + Communication. Ms. Reissfelder will increase awareness about the important work and accomplishments of clients through creative digital storytelling on social media and other online platforms. Teak Media + Communication, located in South Boston, MA, is New England’s only B Corp certified public relations firm and has been sharing the stories of nonprofit organizations and socially responsible companies through the media since 1997.

Jonathon Belaus ’12 joins the Denver Market as an Associate Manager. Citing Mr. Belaus’s ability to collaborate effectively with his teams, motivating them to achieve a common goal, The Siegfried Group welcomes him to the Denver Market. He began his career at Deloitte and most recently served as a Supervisor at RSM.

Justin Lee ’15 has joined Palladin Consumer Retail Partners as an Associate. Palladin expanded its team to help manage existing portfolio companies and increase investment activity. Prior to joining Palladin, Mr. Lee worked as an investment banking Analyst with Alantra Partners. Before Alantra, he worked as a Valuation Advisory Analyst with Duff & Phelps.

Julie A. Peck ’07 has been named Exiger’s Chief Operating Officer. Exiger is a leader in the provision of technology-enabled, regulatory, financial crime, risk, and compliance solutions. Ms. Peck will introduce a new layer of operational rigor to drive the highest levels of excellence as Exiger scales to fulfill its clients’ growing appetite for technology-enabled, sustainable compliance solutions. She has spent her distinguished career creating value at scale for rapidly growing technology-enabled businesses.

Kevin Kortsep ’12, Jeremy Longobardi ’12, ’13 MSA , and Kevin Solomon ’14, ’15 MA have banded together to create Husky Ticket Project, an organization dedicated to sending local CT youth and underprivileged persons to UConn sporting events, at no cost to them, thereby building the UConn brand and the next generation of fans! In its first year, Husky Ticket Project was able to provide over 500 tickets to the local community for UConn Football, Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball teams.
