Le Sun ’13 Ph.D. successfully defended his dissertation titled, “Three Essays on External Monitoring and Corporate Decisions.” Dr. Sun will continue as a Quantitative Analyst at AllianceBernstein L.P. in New York, New York.

Shaun H. Sheridan ’04, 04 MSA has been named to the Hartford Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” class of 2013. Mr. Sheridan is an audit manager and Connecticut Certified Public Accountant for Whittlesey and Hadley, P.C. Mr. Sheridan is an active volunteer in several organizations including the Greater Hartford Jaycees, the Saint Francis Foundation and the Travelers Championship PGA tour event.
David A. Samuels ’83
David A. Samuels ’83 has been named the CFO of the Year 2013 by the Washington Business Journal. Mr. Samuels is the chief financial officer and chief administrative officer at Bioscan, Inc. which manufactures and distributes diagnostic imaging systems to the global preclinical imaging marketplace.

Daniel D. Pinho ’02 MBA has been recognized as one of the “20 under 40 Latinos Going Places” by Poder 360 magazine. Mr. Pinho has over 17 years of experience doing business in Latin American Companies in marketing, structuring and underwriting the credit of small and medium sized companies.

James M. Mahoney ’79 has been elected to be the chairman of the Board of Directors for the Hospital for Special Care in New Britian. Mr. Mahoney will also serve as vice chair for Center of Special Care, Inc., it’s parent corporation.

Jill M. Maguire ’83 has joined Reby Advisors as a financial advisor. Ms. Maguire is a Certified Financial Planner with more than ten years of experience in advising families, business owners and organizations.

Maureen K. Hays ’91 MBA has been appointed to managing director of consultant relationships at Principal Financial Group Inc. Ms. Hays joined Principal Financial Group Inc. from Axa SA Investment Managers Group.
Frank Genovese ’72
Frank Genovese ’72 has been appointed by Governor Robert F. McDonnell to the University of Virginia Board of Visitors. Mr. Genovese is the president of The Rothbury Corporation, a Richmond-area investment company. Mr. Genovese also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Christopher T. Fraser ’80
Christopher T. Fraser ’80 has been appointed interim president and CEO to lead KMG Chemicals, Inc. Mr. Fraser has been the CEO of two chemical companies and has served on KMG Chemicals, Inc. board since 2008.
Scott S. Cowen ’68
Scott S. Cowen ’68 has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus by the UConn Alumni Association. Mr. Cowen is currently the president of Tulane University and is being honored for rebuilding the school after Hurricane Katrina, establishing a charter school, and creating a public service requirement for undergraduates to help the city of New Orleans.
